WHA Board of Directors
WHA was formed in 2009 by a group of local residents. The first priority was to save the Civic Center (old DuPont Club) from demolition and this has been accomplished. Today we work to promote thoughtful preservation and reuse of other critical areas important to the area’s history.
We see Washburn as a forward-looking city with a rich cultural and architectural past. The historical buildings remaining in our neighborhoods and on our main street provide character and interest and help preserve our community’s accomplishments.
WHA works with the City of Washburn’s Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) and with the Washburn Area Historical Society (WHS), the group that operates the museum and maintains the archives of printed materials, photos and artifacts.
